ZATH02 - Heart Keychain

I tried to burn a heart Keychain yesterday and when the item was lasering, the autofocus part hit the link connecting the heart and ring. Is there a particular way to insert the item into the zig so this does not happen. I did a second item with the red light and it happen again. The only thing I could get it to work was to reduce the size on the pring considerably and lower the laser area.

I thought a work around may be to make a small slit in the foam zig to insert the link to it is lower for the laser passing over the jig, then I would not have to make the size of the name so much smaller. Any suggestion or thougths?

Cutting a small hole out of the back of the jig sounds like a good solution to me. I've gone as far as removing the small ring completely by bending the it with pliers just enough to get it off and putting it back on after engraving. Just be careful to not deform the ring in the process.
