File Update

Four files have been added to go with ZFCD50 (5 x 7 cherry photo frame). A PDF version of the scan page (about 3 MB) is available. I also rolled in minor fixes since the last update. Check the change log for details.

File Update

A few minor changes have been made to files for ZALR (alphabet photo frames, pg 39), ZACM (metal compact mirrors, pg 15), ZALC (alphabet crosses, pg 49) ZTBCG (grape border cherry tablet, pg 51), and ZWMB (music boxes, pg 31). As always, details of changes made can be found in the change log post.

File Update

A few minor changes have been made to files for ZAKC (metal keychains, pg 4), ZKPB70 (toy toolbox, pg 63), ZHMK (hook style bookmarks, pg 1), and ZWPF01 (wood photo frame, pg 34). As always, details of changes made can be found in the change log post.

File Update

The file for ZMFS01 has been updated. The power and speed setting for both text and art were not appropriate/correct to produce good output. The files settings and the magenta text in the file both stated 50% Power, 100% Speed. This caused the laser to engrave far too shallow. The file has been changed to 100% Power, 50% Speed to render the text clearer. It is now the artwork that is set to 50% Power, 100% Speed. This makes the artwork only a little lighter than the text. These settings worked well for me with our laser, but your experience may vary. As a "last resort," you can run the piece twice without doing any damage since it's metal under the black coating (making it impossible to go "too deep").

IMPORTANT LASER UPDATE

Files for the ZBIA and ZALK clocks (pgs 47 & 48 in the January 2011 scanbook) have been updated. Some spacing/positioning changes have been made to prevent the laser from hitting the clock hands.

A few notes:
For ALL ZBIA clocks, the top half and bottom half of the designs must be sent and run separately (ZALKs have only lower half text, so this is not a problem). The files include a reminder for this.
Some files had the lower half default text too high, causing the autofocus sensor to run into the hands. This default positioning is fixed. Also, a red guide line is now included on Layer 2 to show you the absolute highest point that lower half text/art should be placed. This line may seem a bit far from the clock center, but the autofocus sensor is not in the same place as the laser's focus point, so some extra space needs maintained.

Another option to completely avoid problems is to remove the entire movement assembly. This will allow you to laser anywhere on the clock surface.
